Volunteering is good for you and your career

“You only have what you give. It’s by spending yourself that you become rich.” ~Isabel Allende, Chilean-American novelist

Regular readers of this blog know that I am a huge advocate for doing volunteer work. There are so many deserving community organizations that need help in furthering their missions, yet many lack the people resources to accomplish the mighty tasks at hand. If you have a few hours to spare, consider giving back through the gift of time. It’s free, it means a lot to the organization and you will most likely feel good about yourself when you get finished.

It’s also a win-win because you’ll be able to add these skills to your resume. Many organizations allow people to step into leadership roles with very little experience. This means that you can obtain real world experience, try out various careers and earn valuable job skills.

What’s not to like?!
