Top 25 Companies for Work-Life Balance 2013; Glassdoor Report

With technology keeping employees connected 24/7, is work-life balance becoming easier or more difficult for employees to maintain? While some HR pros may think technology makes it easier to send employees home and encourage them to enjoy their time out of the office, Glassdoor data shows the average work-life balance rating has dropped from a 3.5 in 2009, to a 3.4 in 2011, to a 3.2 thus far in 2013. (Ratings based on 5-point scale: 1.0=very dissatisfied, 5.0=very satisfied). How HR Can Help Direct Managers Connect with Employees

As a follow-up to last week’s post on boss’ influence on employment brands, Glassdoor’s HR Director Amanda Lachapelle provided us with some tips on how HR can help direct managers connect with employees. Google, Netflix and Patagonia are companies in the former category. These prodigious companies, however, offer far more than fortune and prestige. Businesses looking to attract top talent should be prepared to offer an appreciable amount of vacation...

I’ve already started the process of unsubscribing to a number of newsletters that are pushed to my inbox. If I really need the information, I can go to that person’s/company’s/organization’s website. 2. “Babysit” less and hold people more...
