Dealing with business cards…there’s an app for that

I attend a lot of networking functions and business mixers. Each time, I acquire a collection of business cards. Right now, I have a stack of about 50 laying on my desk in a binder clip that are waiting for me to do something with them. I know I’m not alone in this problem. So, what’s a gal to do? Networking tips

This article was written for transitioning military members, but the advice is applicable to anyone who is in need of some networking best practices. I would add to the list: Be sure you ask questions. People like to talk about themselves, so ask questions about what their job entails, what interests they have, etc. You’ll be surprised at how many things you have in common with people who were total strangers just minutes ago.

Who hates conference calls?

Who hates conference calls? Oh, oh, pick me, pick me!! I hate conference calls. I know that they serve a purpose, but the conference call may be the worst workplace invention to date. I just really have a hard time concentrating on the call when my inbox continues to grow in front of my face and there are other distractions in my office.
